About Lebanon Cinema Days
Lebanon Cinema Days is a cultural initiative led by the Beirut Film Society, positioning cinema as a bridge between Lebanon, the Middle East, and the diaspora through the power of storytelling. As part of Lebanon’s cultural diplomacy through cinema, this annual touring festival strengthens bonds between Lebanese, Arab and MENA communities in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom and their cultural roots—while also encouraging dialogue with the cultures of their adopted homelands.
Lebanon Cinema Days sont une initiative culturelle menée par la Beirut Film Society, positionnant le cinéma comme un pont entre le Liban, le monde arabe et sa diaspora, grâce au pouvoir du récit. Dans le cadre de la diplomatie culturelle du Liban par le biais du cinéma, ce festival itinérant annuel renforce les liens entre les communautés libanaises et arabes au Canada, aux États-Unis et au Royaume-Uni, tout en encourageant le dialogue avec les cultures des pays d’accueil.
Guided by the spirit of Gebran Khalil Gebran’s words—“You have your Lebanon and I have my Lebanon”—the festival embraces the multiplicity of identities and personal connections to homeland, inviting filmmakers and audiences alike to celebrate “My Lebanon”: a Lebanon of memory, imagination, resilience, and rebirth.
Guidé par l’esprit des mots de Gibran Khalil Gibran — « Vous avez votre Liban, j’ai le mien » — le festival célèbre la pluralité des identités et les liens personnels à la terre natale, en invitant cinéastes et publics à honorer « Mon Liban » : un Liban de mémoire, d’imagination, de résilience et de renaissance.
Open to Lebanese, Arab, and international films, Lebanon Cinema Days features a curated selection of feature-length and short films—fiction, animation, and documentaries—showcasing not only works from Lebanon and the Arab world, but also from the hosting countries, including Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, depending on the city where the festival takes place. By bringing together diverse cinematic voices, the festival offers a unique opportunity to both preserve Lebanese and Arab cultural heritage and to foster a deeper understanding of the local cultures in which diaspora communities live.
Ouvert aux films libanais, arabes et internationaux, Les Journées du Cinéma Libanais proposent une sélection soignée de courts et longs métrages — fiction, animation, documentaire — comprenant non seulement des œuvres issues du Liban et du monde arabe, mais aussi des films provenant des pays hôtes : le Canada, les États-Unis et le Royaume-Uni, selon les villes dans lesquelles le festival est organisé. En rassemblant des voix cinématographiques diverses, le festival devient une plateforme à la fois de préservation du patrimoine culturel libanais et arabe, et de découverte des cultures locales dans lesquelles les communautés diasporiques évoluent.
