10th Lebanon Cinema Days in Canada
The programme.
Fifty-seven films from Lebanon and its diaspora, three opening nights, and eleven days across Montréal, Ottawa and Greater Toronto — 17 to 28 September 2026.
Almost every film in this programme turns on the same question — whether to stay or to go — and almost none of them answer it the same way.
The tenth edition, and the people we are celebrating
This is our tenth Canadian edition. We have brought together thirteen feature films and forty-four short films, and we are showing them across three cities — Montréal, Ottawa and the Greater Toronto Area, from 17 to 28 September. Three artists are honoured this year.
Georges Khabbaz receives our Lifetime Achievement Award. He appears in three of the films in this programme, and after Ghadi in Montréal he stays in the room to take questions.
Stephanie Atala is the first laureate of the Grand Prix de l'Artiste Francophone, an award created for this edition and given each year to an artist whose work carries francophone culture — in cinema, in music and on stage.
Zef joins us as a special guest, and Nisrine Zawahira hosts all three opening nights, moving between Arabic, French and English as the room needs.
Opening ceremonies
Three evenings, three rooms of different sizes, the same guests on every carpet. Montréal opens the festival and hands out the awards; Ottawa and Toronto each get their own opening and reception.
Feature films
Thirteen features, and they do not agree with each other. There is a revenge thriller, two comedies, a documentary built out of figurines and archive footage, a film made by six directors at once, and a Québec production of a Lebanese-Québécois novel.
What they share is a question rather than a mood: who leaves, who stays, and what it costs either way. Ghadi is from 2013 and still fills a room. Green Line runs 150 minutes and interviews men who shot at each other across the same street. Select any film for the synopsis, the credits and the trailer.
Short film sessions
Forty-four shorts, most of them by filmmakers at the start of their careers. Read the titles in order and you get the decade: What If They Bomb Here Tonight?, Evacuate or Die, Those Who Never Left, There Are Rumors That We Left.
They are grouped into sessions of roughly a hundred minutes. Every session page lists the films it screens, with the director of each.
